Live in Georgia and Have Questions About Your Roof Deductible?

Beware of Unprofessionals

In the state of Georgia, roofing contractors are not required to have a roofing license in order to perform work on your home. That means that anyone can create an LLC today, and be in the roofing business tomorrow. Obviously, we are not saying that's always the case, but when storm season arrives, there will be "roofers" that know very little about roofing who flock to our state for the purpose of making a quick buck.

The vast majority of these companies will offer to waive a homeowner's deductible by furnishing an estimate that is lower than what the insurance company is providing and telling the homeowner to pocket the difference (which is a felony- find out more here starting at line 97), offer "free" upgrades, and a lifetime guarantee that your roof will never leak.

Sounds great, right?! Unfortunately, the old saying of "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is," applies here. More often than not, these new roofs or roof repairs fail within days or weeks after the roof install or roof repair is performed. The sad reality is that this continues to happen every year. We say all of that to say this: when selecting the roofing company that is going to work on your biggest investment, we encourage you to do your due diligence.
